Succulents Need Water
Succulents are some of the most popular houseplants around— and for good reason! These beautiful plants are incredibly easy to care for and can bring life to any room. Yet, one of the most important things to keep in mind when caring for a succulent is that they do need water – even though they may be able to survive long periods without it.
Factors Affecting How Much Succulents Need Water:
The amount of water a succulent needs will depend on several factors such as climate, light availability and the type of succulent. For example, cacti or desert-dwelling succulents such as Sedum require less watering than those from tropical regions like Kalanchoe or Echeveria. Additionally, those grown indoors tend to need more water than outdoor plants since they don’t get exposed to the same environmental conditions (such as rainfall).
Use the Soak and Dry Method for Watering Succulents:
Succulents are incredibly resilient, much like camels. They thrive in the aridest of environments due to their innovative self-preserving technique: storing moisture within their thickened stems, roots, and leaves. This allows them to survive extended periods without needing water - similar to how a camel stores water in its humps for prolonged treks through the desert!
Succulents are remarkable in their ability to survive long periods of drought, with the flesh on the plant shrinking until water is provided. However, if succulents go too long without water or are overwatered, they will die. Therefore, it's important to follow a 'soak and dry' approach when caring for these resilient plants–the key to maintaining an optimum moisture balance that keeps them alive!
